New WinCo Foods coming to Prescott Valley, AZ

I've read so many NEGATIVE reviews about WinCo Foods that I hope folks in Prescott Valley, AZ protest this grocer coming to our community! Not wanted! If it has this many issues and this many complaints, I, for one, DO NOT want to see a WinCo anywhere near my community. I've also heard NEGATIVE comments about the Phoenix, AZ area locations! No thanks! I'll keep shopping at Fry's and Safeway!

Poisoned by food - bad customer service

Brought some yogurt to the store that made me sick. Had to make a special trip because my hours are on the way home from work after 10pm daily and they have no service department.

Finally just drove up early on the way to work and stopped in.

Instead of acting like they intended to explore this potentially dangerous product for the general health of the public, they asked me to produce a receipt. I almost never keep receipts for groceries. IF in my hand, they typically go in the trash on the way out or are dropped on the floor of the car to be tossed in the trash on cleanup. Sometimes they are in the bag and in the California world of 10C re-usable bags they might stay in the bag.

Asking for a receipt to prove purchase of a not out of date yogurt that is sold only by Winco is a little ridiculous. Then a line manager made some comment (March 2021) that in the world of COVID this return was some words I do not exactly recall but sort of a push away. So their product, likely due to mishandling at the location, poisoned me and caused me great discomfort and fear and money could not be returned without a receipt.

Ridiculous treatment.

Selling poison food that only this store sells and refusing to take it and report it unless I could produce a receipt for it. I have enough pieces of paper without saving every casual receipt to this is just a means of preventing the return.

I did look through my trunk (empty paid reuseable bags) and found 3 Winco receipts. Only 1 had the ZOI yogurt so if I were to make another special trip then maybe they would take one back and refund the money but i have zero confidence that they intend to do anything to protect public health. Extremely bad customer service. This young generation has no idea what customer service is.

I was trained by the oil companies back in the 60s and 70s and service was the highest level and priority. These people have zero respect for the health and wellbeing of the humans who bring money into their store. I believe I will just use Walmart, Vons, and Ralphs after this experience.

Frequently I have seen swollen bags of meat products on the shelves. Green colored packs of ham etc.

It is open after others are closed so easy for after work (swing shift)

Recently noticed a yogurt called zoi when the GREEK GODS and FAGE sections were empty.

Purchased because the container was heavy. Felt nutrient rich. Over the course of several days, started experiencing varying degrees of lower gut pain and strange overproduction of gas. First believed bad eggs or egg sensitivity.

Tossed eggs. Then thought it was the steak in a family pack. Tossed $15.00 of steak. Then began to fear milk.

Tossed milk. Began purchasing more yogurt and instead of eathing a cup at night after dinner began using it as a breakfast and dinner meal never suspecting that yogurt can be dangerous. The pain increased but I just did not know yogurt can be dangerous. After all, it is filled with bacteria on purpose and has always been a go to food whenhemorrhage feeling out of sorts.

I then began to fear that I had either a bleeding hemmorage in my gut or CANCER.

Literally told one of the nurses at work that I feared I had developed colon cancer because all I was eating was fresh yogurt and water. The pain was so intense that I went to nothing but water and the pain subsided and then I noticed that the 2 in the refrigerator had swollen lids. By this time I had gone through over half a dozen quarts of this new ZOI yogurt. Had saved the cups to put pet food in and counted 7 and another 2 in the fridge.

One had been opened and the other unopened. I began to add back in other foods and there was no sign of pain or extreme gas.

When I looked that the 2 in the fridge, the top was slightly swollen. One had been opened and one was sealed.

I grew up in a small town with 2 small grocers who called you by name and asked how your family was and there was never any reason to return anything unless it was bad and nobody ever asked for proof of purchase. Just and apology would be the reaction and an invitation to correct the problem. Sometimes I might have a receipt that was placed into the grocery bag and in the modern California world of 10 cents each re-usable bags they might stay in the bag. Witnessed a customer fall, from Vomit on the ground

I witnessed a woman walking into WinCo Foods located at 120 Triangle Shopping center. There was vomit all over the ground right In front of the entry.

The ambulance was called. I just saw her while she was just leaving her rehabilitee appointment for the fall. I asked how it was going and she said WinCo has done nothing for her. WinCo is filly to begin with, to leave vomit in the walking area's AT A GROCERY STORE and while covid is going on is disgusting.

Since WinCo takes no responsibility for the filth, of their store nor do they care about their customer I will no longer go to WinCo. I spend a lot of money there, it is supposed to be owned by the employees, we as a community are supposed to support business that are community based. Evidently WinCo's is not community based nor do they care about their customers.

Therefore: This now brings up what disgusting things actually go into the food we buy from WinCo. I am concerned, and I no longer trust WinCo for healthy food I will not go there again

Apparently vomit outside the entrance and exit of a Grocery Store is disgusting, add to that the dirty inside the store, add to that the unconcern of the Grocery Store to care about their customers suggest that the grocery's could not be to health standards. It would appear that because it is cheap they do not have to care about their standards. That was the point.

Lousy service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Listen, when you fail to do proper educational training in the workplace, you fail your customers, and those employees who work for you will do as they have been taught and as their particular background they came from will be the actions that guide them to the behavior they feel is justified. So when the lady working in the meat department looked up and seen me , we had eye contact so I know that she saw me waiting to be served, she continued the work she was doing, and only when the Obviously White Male customer arrived at the counter she immediately spoke with him, asking to help him , and as he began to communicate back with her I then spoke up saying Hey am I invisible to you?

Ive been waiting on you to acknowledge me !, then another employee stepped in saying she was the one who was going to help me and not the one who I believe simply dismissed me making a false statement just to save her from an obvious racial issue and superiority statement that was false, and an attempt to cover up what really happened, please...

Im 73 years old been through all of the work place forms of racism, in almost every setting, what happened that morning in your store was not the first time Ive experienced this form of racism, but I didnt expect it by Winco employees, And I am a Medical Provider who sometimes takes care of your injured employees, can you imagine if that kind of obvious action was ever permitted in my workplace, the state and federal laws that would protect them when they are asking why we allowed this client, customer, patient. To be abused in this manner, I like your store , but Im not sure about shopping there again!

User's recommendation: Do some training in these areas of proper conduct, and what is considered wrong and by law is not tolerated in our country today, we need rules every Body must follow or face dismissal no matter what level or position you hold in the company and not jut fir your customers but your employees as well !

I brought my monthly groceries at Winco tonight at the 39th St. store in Oklahoma City. I normally shop at Creat but after tonights experience, I may be inclined to move my business over to your store. I met an outstanding employee named Dustin who really made my shopping experience a good one. He was helpful and kind and courteous to everyone who went through his shopping line. Then when he saw me having difficulties bagging my groceries he offered to help me with that and even took them to my car for me. I just wanted to recognize Dustin for going above and beyond and meeting my every expectation and more. My name is Karen Stark and I live in Edmond, Oklahoma. 405-651-****.

Refused to sell me money orders to pay property taxes.

I had 2 envelopes with the amounts of the taxes for each property 3 in all with the tax collectors return address on them and another envelope with the money in it. The clerk told me that i had to show ID and social security number and a whole lot more personal information and laid down several long forms to be filled out. I asked what kind of liberal crap is that and the female employee called a big fat guy over and he escorted me out of the store and told me to leave and never ever come back. I have been buying money orders there to pay my property taxes for several years now and never had a problem but this time it was a different employee that apparently hated my red cap and jacket. This was the store in redding, ca.

An employee was fired for trying to enforce mask wearing policy

I am furious that an employee at a Salem, Oregon store was fired for attempting to keep non-masked shoppers from checking out of Winco. I am a life-long Winco shopper with health issues, and have appreciated the store's policy of enforcing the mask mandate and keeping customers safe--up until now. By firing this employee, Winco has sent a message that it's OK not to wear a mask in Winco, and has put thousands of vulnerable shoppers at risk.

Preferred solution: Strictly enforce the mask-wearing policy in Winco stores

User's recommendation: Insist that Winco enforce mask-wearing in their stores!

No Winco is showing that it is not going to allow an employee to bully and assault an elderly woman. If your mask works then you wear one.

There are health risks to wearing masks and should be an individual's choice. I believe the opposite and now I will continue to shop there.

Guest

The risks to wearing a mask are small. The risks to catching Covid are huge. And I didn’t see any bullying of elderly women, only some people who were selfishly putting themselves and others in danger of catching a horrible disease.

Mask mandate not enforced

Shopped at the Roseville, CA Winco store on the afternoon of January 10th, 2021.

There were at minimum 10 shoppers in the store without masks.

I pointed out one unmasked shopper to a Winco employee and mentioned it again at the checkout. The response was that they cant confront the unmasked shoppers because they may be aggressive.

I understand the position of the Winco staff, yet masks are a California mandate and can be enforced through law enforcement.

Ive enjoyed shopping at Winco stores, but I will not be back until after the pandemic subsides, and will take my business to stores that enforced the mask policy.

With the intent of doing my part in keeping the virus in check as much as possible, I will share this experience with others through social media.

Enforce the California mask mandate, the risk of viral contamination of food products via exhalation is simply too great of risk to go unchallenged.

May 17, 2021 Winco is a great employee owned company but they need to join other major retailers and drop the mandatory mask requirement if customer shows proof of covid 19 vaccine. If you are fully vaccinated you are zero threat to other shoppers. I am not going to be held hostage and denied my freedom by people who don't get the vaccine.

I agree! We need proof of vaccination. My suggestion is when anybody gets their final shot, we need to get a symbol, I know, let’s just tattoo 666 on their foreheads!

Disappointed

I am a frequent shopper at Winco. Today, November 20, 2020 I had a very bad experience at the store in Duncanville, Texas.

I spent over $250 cash money to purchase food for Thanksgiving for my family and for my sister whom is disabled and her son. I was aware that Winco was including a free turkey with a purchase of $100; I informed the cashier Molly that I was aware that my bill would be over $200 and that I needed to get 2 turkeys and if I could get the two free turkeys with one transaction or do I need to perform two separate and she told me that I needed two separate transactions so I said ok, before adding the next $100 of items. Her boss Sharon came over and said "No you can do that and if everyone did this we wouldn't have any turkeys" of course very rudely and loud so I asked for the store manager which Sharon had updated her. The store manager or assistant manager Anabelle told me the same thing.

I explained to both ladies that part of the purchase was for me and the other part was for my sister whom is disabled and she was unable to come to the store. Both ladies basically told me that was my problem and No I was unable to receive the 2nd turkey even though I spent $250; I was very disappointed and hurt because now I will need go to another store and buy a turkey for my sister and spend more money.

I started to leave all of the groceries that I bought on the counter and take my money to another store but I did not because I support Winco and I am the bigger person. It was the principle and the disbelief of the two Winco employees that frustrated me.

Best Regards

Sylvia Mitchell
